A recent interview with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies actor Orlando Bloom has stirred up some rumors about the 2017 film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This is the 5th movie in the eccentric action-adventure Johnny Depp franchise, but could it also serve as some sort of a reboot of the series? According to Bloom, he isn't involved in the next film, but the future of his character, Will Turner, is still up in the air. In fact, Bloom thinks that the story will be reinvented with this new film, taking on the popular reboot theme going on in Hollywood. (SPOILERS to follow)

Though there have been rumors of Bloom returning to the series in this new installment, we know now that he isn't involved just yet. In fact, this week he confirmed he wouldn't be featured in the movie, but admits he's excited to return to the franchise.

"I'm not entirely sure that [I'll be back] just yet, but there are talks," he told IGN recently. "Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son... I'm of course Davey Jones now, so I'm down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I'm rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won't look anything like me. [Gestures to face] Get all gnarly."

Slash Film points out that, since Depp and other returning cast members are still involved, this probably won't be a reboot in 2017. It could, however, serve as some sort of a replacement for the last film, On Stranger Tides. In other words, this might be the studio's way of asking fans to forget about the flop.
