Marvel Comics has made a huge announcement signing exclusively with an up-and-coming writer. Known for her groundbreaking work for Ms. Marvel, which introduced teen superhero Kamala Khan to the mainstream audience, and X-Men writer, G. Willow Wilson has signed on the dotted line with Marvel.

As we previously mentioned, Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American Muslim born in Jersey City. Khan is the first Muslim character to headline her own superhero title. In the aftermath of the Inhumanity storyline, the Terrigen Mists have suddenly activated dormant Inhuman cells in ordinary people. Now with the ability to shape-shift, Khan calls herself, Ms. Marvel, in honor of Carol Danvers, whose getting a movie of her own in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Joining the ranks of Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Axis scribes, Wilson states, "I'm thrilled to be working more closely with Marvel. I've been reading the works of Mark Waid, Brian Michael Bendis and Rick Remender since I was a nineteen-year-old college kid, so to be part of that collective creative effort is really very special to me. I'm excited to move forward and see what the future brings."

Editor Sana Amanat recounts what a creative thrill it has been to work with Wilson, "Working on Ms. Marvel with Willow has been one of the highpoints of my career, so of course I couldn't be more thrilled to have her onboard.  I know she will further enrich the spirit of Marvel storytelling with her captivatingly unique and gifted voice. "

While Ms. Marvel  will be facing tougher choices, bigger obstacles, more tension as her personal life as Jersey City's own superhero, Wilson will also be writing for the X-Men.

Wilson adds, "Writing the X-Men has been a unique challenge--it's the team book that got me into comics as a kid, and they have so much history. I wanted to get them out of their element--quite literally--and tell a story that was unexpected and fresh. How do you challenge some of the most powerful mutants on the planet? Put them up against the planet itself. That was the genesis of my upcoming arc on X-Men, The Burning World."

G. Willow Wilson's run on the mutant superhero team in X-Men #23 arrives January 2015. Readers, are you excited to see what happens in Ms. Marvel and X-Men
