Mel B, Stephen Belafonte Domestic Abuse- 'X-Factor' Judge Leaves Husband Amid Speculation Of Violence

It looks like Mel Brown has thrown in the towel on her marriage to Stephen Belafonte. The stars found themselves thrust into the headlines after allegations that Belafonte had physically abused his Spice Girls star of a wife earlier this week. When the singer appeared on The X-Factor finale over the weekend, with bruises on her face and arms, it sparked all kinds of rumors regarding her current situation in the marriage. Now the singer is revealing that she is taking some time away from her spouse after being with Belafonte for seven years.

According to Radar Online, the couple is simply putting a pause on their marriage right now to focus on themselves.

Mel and Stephen "are taking a time-out from the marriage," a source explained to the site.

As far as the domestic violence rumors, the source told the site that they were just that... rumors, and that they had no foundation in facts.

"They love hard and fight hard," the insider explained of Mel and Stephen's relationship. "However those fights are only verbal, and Stephen has never laid a hand on Mel, and would never hit her."

The star even reached out to Radar on his own, stating, "It's absolutely ridiculous for anyone to say I physically abused Mel. It never happened."

According to The Daily Mail, when the news site caught up with the star he didn't confirm nor deny that the couple was splitting.

"Listen I had no idea, I didn't know I have no idea," Belafonte explained when the separation rumors were brought up. "I'm not disputing it, I didn't know, I had no idea."
