The Tampa Bays Rays have been trying to rid themselves of much-maligned Tropicana Field for years. But Thursday, the city of St. Petersburg again rejected the team's request plea to look for a new stadium site, according to Yahoo! Sports, meaning the Rays are either stuck in Tampa or soon jetting out of town. In honor of the lovable, loatheable Trop, now is as good a time as ever to count down Major League Baseball's worst stadiums. For the record, this is a difficult list to make, since baseball is awesome and stadiums seem to get grander every year. But these five teams managed.

5. Citi Field – New York Mets – Queens, NY

Sure, Citi Field is new. But it's a depressing black, an almost all-black crater in the middle of the most congested part of Queens that makes guests feel trap amid a tradition of turmoil. Add in the artificial, made-for-marketing "landmark" called the Pepsi Porch, field level seats colored a curious shade of green, and astronomical prices, and Citi is one of the most socioeconomically segregating stadiums around.

4. Great American BallPark – Cincinnati Reds – Cincinnati, Ohio

Not enough variety. The host team is called the Reds, but Great American has too much of it. The seats are red. The signs are red. The uniforms are red. Don't give your eyes enough time to adjust and even the dirt looks red. Then you catch a glimpse of the eyesore that is the right field bleachers, and they start to bleed.

3. Minute Maid Park – Houston Astros – Houston, Texas

A hill and a flagpole (a design carved from traditional (?) and spacing, according to Sports Illustrated) on the field of play. A 315-foot fence that extends the entire length of left field. And a giant train. Need we say any more?

2. O.cO Coliseum – Oakland A's – Oakland, Calif.

A's GM Billy Beane never gives his players ample time to stick around, and they never seem all that upset to leave. The Coliseum is so old and decrepit that they basically made a movie out of it. Almost half the seats are always tarped off, saved away for football season. Stuck in the ultimate fixer-upper, both the A's and Raiders are consistently begging other cities to let them move.

1. Tropicana Field – Tampa Bay Rays – St. Petersburg, Florida

The roof isn't retractable and it's white, probably the worst combination for a place that houses baseball games. Somehow, even with the white roof, players complain the place is dark and gloomy. Pop ups routinely hit the catwalks on their way up. If they hit a certain level, they are ... home runs? What is this, wiffleball?
