David Tennant received some sad news earlier this month when his brand new Fox crime drama, Gracepoint, costarring Anna Gunn of Breaking Bad, was cancelled after just one season. Don't worry, though; his BBC show, Broadchurch, which was the influence for Gracepoint, just received a second season order. Though it's a bit sad, we'd like to remind fans of Tennant about the time he almost introduced the coolest, bittersweet Doctor Who Easter eggs onto the Fox series, thanks to a Twitter photo.

This little Easter egg was actually posted on the Twitter account of Gracepoint series creator and Doctor Who writer Chris Chibnall last month, but the cancellation news has brought it back up.

According to The Mary Sue, Tennant would write down phone messages whenever his character, Detectove Carver, would receive a call. Instead of just scribbling nonsense, he wrote down fake messages from his past Doctor Who companions: Martha Jones, Donna Noble and, of course, Rose Tyler. If that wasn't enough to get your eyes watering, check out the actual context of each message:

From: Martha Jones
Message: Has information about Sally Sparrow

From: D. Noble
Message: Information regarding the library

From: R. Tyler
Message: Something regarding a wolf?

Here is the actual Twitter post featuring a photo of these notes on the set of Gracepoint:

Whovians probably get these references, but just in case you forget: Sally Sparrow was featured in "Blink," the first episode featuring the Weeping Angels. The library is a reference to when the Doctor met River Song for the first time, which was also the last time she saw the Doctor due to her backwards timeline. Rose was the Bad Wolf, you guys!

Obviously, we're all in tears right now. Let us know what you think of the cancelation news as well as these messages that Tennant wrote down in the comments section below!
