Season 4 of Person of Interest presented the first part of its latest trilogy CBS. With the stakes even higher for Shaw (Sarah Shahi), will Reese (Jim Caviezel), and Finch (Michael Emerson) end up in the crossfire as Samaritan and the Machine embark on a vicious "war of the gods?"

As we previously mentioned, The Machine was beaten by a much more powerful Artificial Intelligence, known as Samaritan. To stay hidden from Samaritan's growing radar, Finch (Emerson) and his group assumed normal, regular lives to prevent themselves from getting caught. The stakes are even higher now that Shaw's cover was unexpectedly discovered by Samaritan.

In our mid-season finale recap, Root (Amy Acker) met with the avatar of the Samaritan, who was a very creepy kid indeed. Samaritan sees The Machine as a fallen god and will takes its rightful place enslaving humanity. When the meeting was done with, Samaritan infected Wall Street with its own virus.

In an interview with io9, Acker reveals, "Well, there's a lot [to be worried about]. It is like the big war of the gods. Everyone is in danger. I mean, from the promo at the end of last week you see everyone's having near-death experiences, so it's really going to be exciting."

As we mentioned before, the last time the show creators had a trilogy, Joss Carter (Taraji P. Henson) lost her life in the crossfire. Will Team Machine lose another member?

We also mentioned Shaw and Root have teased a more flirtatious relationship. But with Shaw missing, the former Angel star reveals Root will be involved searching for her, "I think she's definitely out to protect Shaw and that that's her number one concern in her heart probably, but what she knows has to happen has to be to protect the Machine and stop Samaritan."

Person of Interest returns January 6, Tuesday, on CBS at 10pm. Readers, are you excited to see part two, If-Then-Else?
