Good Morning America's co host Robin Roberts made her final appearance on the show last Thursday to go on medical leave in order to start cancer treatment.  She had been diagnosed with MDS this year and will be undergoing bone marrow transplant, with preparations beginning this week.

Last Thursday, Roberts made it to her ailing mother's home in Mississipi just in time to saw her last goodbye to her before she passed away.

Now Roberts will have to battle cancer for the second time without her mother around.  Fortunately, the GMA co host has thousands of people sending encouraging notes, prayers, and purchasing the special Robin Roberts prayer bracelet.

Roberts' doctor, Dr. Gail Roboz, assured that Roberts would make it through and recover well.  He said, "We're hoping the first 30 (days) is when we're going to see a lot of the recovery happening".

Roberts also assured her viewers and supporters that she does not want to miss the meaning of life's preciousness even in the midst of illness.

She told GMA viewers last Thursday,"Life provides losses and heartbreak for all of us. But the greatest tragedy is to have the experience, and miss the meaning."

Robin adds, "I am determined not to miss that meaning."
