Whatever happened to Christmas cheer? Every year, it seems the NBA takes the day to pin bitter rivals against one another. This year, things could have gotten heated as LeBron James returned to Miami for the first time. How many times have the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics played on national TV? Surprisingly, though, the biggest beef this holiday season came from the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Wizards point guard John Wall has been fined $15,000 and Knicks forward Quincy Acy has been fined one game for an incident that involved shoving between the two players.

Wall shoved Acy in the fourth quarter of the Wizards's 102-91 win after Acy fouled Wall on a play he received a flagrant foul for. Acy was ejected, according to ESPN, and didn't agree with the call.

Wall clearly wasn't happy with the hard foul, but Acy didn't throw a punch until Wall shoved him with both hands.

"I didn't throw a punch. I got up and reacted, then I just grabbed him," Acy told ESPN. "What was done wrong?"

Wall torched the Knicks for 24 points and 11 assists, and one spectacular 360 layup that played on highlight reels all night. Maybe the Knicks were embarrassed by the beating and the show. Maybe the frustration of being 5-foot-26 is beginning to bubble up.

Acy admitted he was trying to foul Wall because the Knicks were down a man on defense.

"If somebody has a fast break and you step up and grab them, it's the same concept," he said. "It was just a foul."

"I'm just a feisty guy that likes to compete," Wall told ESPN. "And I want to win games."

Washington is 20-8, one game behind Atlanta in the Southeast Division and third in the Eastern Conference overall. Wall leads a young core of talented players that includes Bradley Beal.

He'll be able to play in the next game. Acy however, will not. It'll be interesting to see if the two teams remember Christmas Day sometime down the road.
