iPhone 5 Event 2012 Scheduled For September 12

Apple has confirmed on Tuesday (September 4) that they will hold a special event to release the new iPhone 5 on the rumored date September 12, 2012.  An invitation has been sent out to the press with a large number 12 with the shadow of the number 5 boldly centered.  The words "it's almost here" sits on top of the number.

The "iPhone 5" was expected to launch last year, however Apple fans were greeted with the iPhone 4S instead.  This year, the highly it's anticipated that the iPhone 5 will finally be unveiled.

The special event will be held at 10 a.m. PST in San Francisco.  After the product(s) are introduced, it takes several weeks before they are available in stores.  

Another product that may be introduced is the iPad mini, though some speculate a separate event may be held for it.

Phone carriers are already starting to discount the iPhone 4S to make way for the new iPhone 5.  The major players include AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.
