And we thought that vampire's couldn't go out in the sun. Well, The Vampire Diaries star, Ian Somerhalder, and his Twilight beauty girlfriend, Nikki Reed, proved that theory wrong, as the two lovebirds hit the slopes over the Christmas holidays. The A-listers hit the mountains of Sun Valley, Idaho for a fun filled family trip that also included Reed's brother, Nathan.
The stars took to their Instagram accounts to document the fun days on the mountain range.
Ian took a snapshot of himself and Nikki while on a chairlift to the top of the mountains.

"No filter for this sunny Sun Valley day of awesomeness with my loves, the incredible @iamnikkireed and my brother @nathanaugustreed," the star wrote for the caption of the image. "The Happiest of holidays to everyone, may nothing but smiles, family time and reflection come from these moments."
Nikki also took to her Instagram account to post a video of Somerhalder and her brother Nathan goofing off while on the slopes.

"When families combine and hearts collide there's only one thing to do... The butt wiggle," The star wrote on her Instagram video. "My brother and my love all in one day, on one mountain- I'm so overwhelmed by all of the beauty that surrounds us."
Could the stars have taken the trips as a way to possibly celebrate their engagement? It was being rumored that a few days before Christmas, Somerhalder had popped into world-renowned diamond jewelry Neil Lane's store to shop around for a certain type of ring for his girlfriend. Well at least according to E! News.
However, news on whether or not the lovebirds got engaged over the holiday is still unknown.
