Chris Rock just filed for divorce from longtime wife, Malaak Compton-Rock. The former couple, married for 19 years, have two daughters together. But did another woman ultimately come between their love?

According to the infamous gossip webloid MediaTakeOut.com, the 49-year-old comedian began romancing stunning actress Rosario Dawson while filming their new movie, "Top Five."

In a statement released on Sunday (December 28), Compton-Rock explains:

"After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways. Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life's blessings, even when faced with difficulties... While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives."

The "Grown Ups" star's lawyer Robert S. Cohen also reiterated:

"Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak, This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family."

Things seem civil and mutual... for now.

But was Rock actually cheating on his wife?

An alleged MTO "snitch" reveals that the former SNL funnyman's been "dating" Dawson for quite awhile now - and they're finally ready to go public now that Compton's officially out of the picture:

"They didn't want to announce it while their movie 'Top Five' was still being released, because they didn't want people thinking that Rosario is some type of homewrecker. She's not, Chris hasn't been with his wife in about two years..."

Rumors initially suggested that Rock was getting a divorce back in 2006-2007. Back then, the couple insisted that such gossip was false:

"We remain, as always, very happy and committed to our marriage and the beautiful family that we have built."

But apparently, their relationship's been rocky for the past few years now...

The insider explains, "They got together while making 'Top Five,' but kept it quiet. Now I think Chris filed the papers on Malaak because he wants to go public with it."
