Jessie J, Miley Cyrus Besties Party In The U.S.A Gave Bang Bang Singer Enough Money To Live Off Of

Forget "Party in the U.S.A." The song should be retitled, "Party In Jessie J's Bank Account." The "Bang Bang" singer might have penned the track and given it to Miley Cyrus but she is revealing today how the track kept a roof over her head for more than three years. The track might have been originally planned to be recorded by the British songstress, but when her record label didn't feel that it fit with her vibe, she handed it over to the former Hannah Montana star. Little did she know that it was going to become one of the singer's greatest hits.

According to E! News, when the song was released back in 2009, the royalties from it helped keep Jessie from being homeless, as it paid for her rent for more than three years.

Yahoo! UK is reporting that the starlet opened up to Glamour magazine about writing the song, and stated that it helped keep her financially stable for many years.

"You've got to write songs, that's where the money is, being an artist. 'Party In The USA' paid my rent for, like, three years," the UK singer/songwriter explained. "Actually it was way longer than that. That's where I get most of my money. I write songs. I'm a singer. I love endorsements and stuff, but that's all added on."

The singer also reveals that she recorded the song but that the record label felt that it wasn't right for her, and handed it off to Cyrus. She also explained that while she penned the hit, that she wasn't actually on hand when Miley laid down the vocals.

"You know what's more weird though, is that you're not actually there when they record it," the singer explained. "I recorded 'Party In The U.S.A.,' played it for the label but they didn't think it was right for me. So they pitched it [to Miley] and two weeks later it was number one in six countries."
