Inspired by the hit ABC TV show, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an all-new series marks the comic book debuts of secret agents Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and the rest of the spy team. Marvel Comics continues to raise the stakes of their highly classified missions in S.H.I.E.L.D. #1.

As we previously mentioned, Marvel has put together the creative team-up of writer Mark Waid (Daredevil) and a rotating list of top artists for each upcoming issue, including artists Carlos Pacheco (Uncanny X-Men), Humberto Ramos (Amazing Spider-Man), Alan Davis (Avengers), Chris Spouse (Supreme). Among the 6 variant covers is a special John Tyler Christopher collectible featuring the mercy with a mouth, Deadpool.

Following the continuity of the series, Coulson and his the peace-keeping force try to keep everyone safe from world-threatening dangers. The best and brightest, including Melinda May, Leo Fitz, Skye (Chloe Bennet), and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), have been put together to serve this elite team. Coulson and his team meet with Thor, Ms. Marvel, and  Howard the Duck.

The first installment will also have a new comic strip titled Fitz and H.E.N.R.Y., the team's new Simian team member. If you've watched the TV show, then you know Fitz has been asking for a monkey to help him make his top-secret gadgets. Fitz's wish finally comes through in an Artificial Intelligence operating system codenamed, H.E.N.R.Y.

Created by Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, Fitz and his helper monkey will star in their own laugh-out-loud shenanigans. In the first of three bonus content, H.E.N.R.Y. has lots to say about Coulson coming back from the dead after the Avengers movie.

We also mentioned that a new generation of fans will meet Miracleman, Kid Miracleman and Young Miracleman in the star-studded All-New Miracleman Annual #1. Quesada joins Grant Morrison (Doom Patrol), Peter Milligan (Justice League Dark), and Mike Allred (Silver Surfer) all take part in the annual issue, which features three must-read tales.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #1, along with All-New Miracleman Annual #1, hits stores on December 31, just in time for New Year's. Readers, are you excited to read the the first issue of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
