Based on the frightening 1979 sci-fi masterpiece Alien, starring actress Sigourney Weaver, the horror survival videogame, Alien: Isolation, has become a successful hit to warrant a sequel. Will developers, Creative Assembly continue the terrifying journey of Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley's daughter, as she drifts into space?

As we previously mentioned, Amanda Ripley searches throughout the darkest realms of outer-space for her missing mother, Ellen Ripley. While searching for her mother's whereabouts, Amanda unfortunately uncovers the frightening truth behind Nostromo's dead crew members. Just like her mother, Amanda ends up having a close encounter of a deadly kind with Nostromo's mass murderer.

Gary Napper, lead designer at Creative Assembly, reveals to AVP Galaxy about the meaning behind the game's open ending, "The plot for a sequel is a daily topic in the studio sometimes. People have their own ideas for where it should go, our writers have some solid concepts and yes, we do have a great opportunity to continue her story. I personally think that Amanda did not get infected in the hive, as when she wakes, the closest egg remains closed..."

After Scott, James Cameron jumped into the director's chair. Since Aliens was not geared to be a suspense flick, Cameron added action and guns as the Marines charged into the extraterrestrial hive with a tougher and stronger Ellen Ripley. Audiences cheered when Ripley shouted, "Get away from her, you b**ch!"

Will the sequel have more action? Napper adds, "I think the action oriented Aliens style game is very different from what Isolation is. If we made a sequel I would like to stick to the same terrifying single Alien approach but do more with the environment and interactivity within it."

We also reported that gamers could order the 'Nostromo Edition.' In the DLC package, players will have to go through two missions, "Crew Expendable," and "Last Survivor." Gamers will recreate the climactic scene where Ripley (Weaver) has to self-destruct the ship while the alien creature is right behind her.

Weaver explained her decision to return to the franchise, "Other people have tried to funnel Alien into games, and what I think is arresting about Alien: Isolation is that it has its own original story. It's very faithful to the first film while going in a whole new direction for people; if I may say, in an emotional direction."

Let's hope the Alien franchise continues in the gaming world; so that we can see a mother/daughter reunion.

Alien:Isolation is out in stores now. Readers, are you excited to see a sequel?
