This past year, Marvel Comics launched a brand new series starring Miles Morales, the amazing wall-crawler from the Ultimate Universe. Readers were blown away by what writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Dave Marquez had in store in Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol.1: Revival, making this the Best Comic Book of 2014.

As we previously mentioned, Miles took the mainstream by storm when Danny Glover, rapper Childish Gambino, voiced the teen superhero in the Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors on Disney XD. At MStars News, we've loved this comic since the first issue and we've been following the series, right to its latest eighth installment, ever since.

Here are 5 reasons why readers should get their hands on Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol.1: Revival, which collects the first five issues.

1) Ultimate Spider-Man #200

In the Ultimate Universe, Peter Parker met a tragic end at the hands of Green Goblin. In honor of his memory, Aunt May hosted a anniversary gathering in honor of Peter's heroics. As a bonus, the first volume collects this milestone issue, which sets up everything that happens in Miles Morales series.

2) The Return of Green Goblin

Like Hannibal Lector, we meet Norman Osborn in shackles. Norman wasn't pretending to be in a deep coma; he was planning his escape the entire time. Let loose from his prison, the Green Goblin, in his savage beast form, brought Hell with him.

3) The Perfect Combination

Thank goodness for Ganke Lee, Miles' best friend. Bendis delivers his witty comic relief when the tension mounts up. Marquez captures the right emotional expressions on the characters, especially when Miles reveals to his girlfriend his secret identity.  You know a comic book is at its best when the writer and artist are at their peak.

4) Those Fight Scenes

When Miles confronted the Green Goblin, each epic panel by Marquez was kinetic and vibrant. In a circle of fire, Miles jumped and swung around as he delivered his best weapon, his own venom blast. You just want Marquez drawing every action sequence after reading these pages.

5) Still Shocking Every Time

In the shocking cliff-hanger of issue #5, J.Jonah Jameson was in a state of shock after Norman confessed to the murder of Peter Parker. Knowing he couldn't let him live, Jameson picked up a gun and shot him at point-blank range.

Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol.1: Revival is in stores now. Readers, what was your favorite comic of 2014?
