With the retirement of David Letterman rapidly approaching and former Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert taking his place, people suddenly realized that CONAN host Conan O'Brien is now the elder of the late night crew. Since newcomer Seth Meyers has taken over the Late Night spot, Jimmy Fallon has dominated and changed The Tonight Show (for the better) and Craig Ferguson has now finished, that leaves O'Brien to keep the late night we've grown to love over the years going. Some might even say he's now the "old man" of late night...

Yahoo! recently conducted a two-part interview with O'Brien in which they brought up the fact that he's the last of his kind on television. On that, the funnyman joked, "I think over night, the minute Dave goes off the air, I'm gonna suddenly morph into a Civil War veteran circa 1941."

He later noted that he's "looking forward" to being the "grand old man" of late night television. Which, of course, makes sense –– there are far worse things to be!

Further commenting on the subject, O'Brien jokes that for 18 of his 22 years on television, he's been considered the "young punk."

"Suddenly, Dave steps away, and it's 'Tell us, oh wise one.' I don't know why but I suddenly have hair growing out of my ears..."

In the end, the host admits that he's hopeful during this phase in his life and career. "I intend to make the most of it."
