Nikki Reed is officially a single woman, well, if you don't count the super cute Vampire Diaries actor she's dating. The Twilight actress began dating Ian Somerhalder earlier this summer, but the star's divorce to husband and American Idol alum Paul McDonald was yet to be finalized. However, there's good news for Nikki and Ian, who have sparked engagement rumors within the last couple of weeks. Should the pair want to walk down the aisle they'll be free to do so, as Reed has just been granted her divorce from Paul.
According to E! News, the Thirteen actress's petition for divorce was actually granted just one day after Christmas on Dec. 26. We don't know if she is considering this a Christmas miracle or just a simple Christmas gift, but regardless it seems like good news for the star. The couple had gotten married on July 14, 2011 and officially separated two and a half years later on Feb. 17, 2014.
TMZ is revealing what each of the stars are set to get in the separation. While Paul will get to keep the house they shared in Nashville together, Nikki has made out handsomely, as she is set to get the couple's other three houses, their German shepherd dog Enzo, and also three of their cars.
On the plus side neither party wanted to claim spousal support from one another as they both waived the right.
This legal proceeding makes way for Ian and Nikki to get even closure in their relationship, as it looks like getting engaged will be the next step for these two. The couple even spent the holidays together as Ian posted a picture of him and Nikki skiing over Christmas on his Instagram account.
