With Charlie Cox playing the man without fear in Marvel's Daredevil and with Krysten Ritter joining as Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones, viewers are anxious to see the next leading man in his own Netflix series. Viewers cannot wait to see Mike Colter (Zero Dark Thirty) as Carl Lucas, aka Power Man, in Marvel's Luke Cage.

As we previously mentioned, Carl Lucas' origin story begins with him being framed for a crime he didn't commit. Wanting revenge for the alleged drug bust, the wrongfully accused criminal volunteers for an experimental treatment at the prison. The chemical compounds end up giving him superhuman strength and durability.

Here are 5 Reasons why The Following actor is perfect as Luke Cage:

1) Halo

The Good Wife actor has physically played Jameson Locke in Halo: Nightfall and voiced the same character in the videogame, Halo 5: Guardians. If that doesn't get him any nerd cred, I don't know what will.

2) He's Daredevil's Best Bud

With the Boardwalk Empire actor as Matt Murdock, I am so excited to see these two actors on-screen together. In the comics, Luke Cage became Murdock's bodyguard when his secret identity was revealed to the public. Will Daredevil and Luke Cage become fast friends on the show? Or will they butt heads first?

3) He Has Terry Crews' Support

There were rumors that the Everybody Hates Chris comedian was offered to play the role first. While the Expendables 3 action star does have the physique, I'm glad Marvel went with someone younger and bulking up isn't a problem. To show how much of a great guy he is, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor shared a snapshot on his official Whosay account and wrote, "Congratulations to my man Mike Colter for being cast as LUKE CAGE! A brilliant actor for one of my favorite superheroes ever! Love him!"

4) The Chemistry

Not only did the Breaking Bad actress have to audition herself, she also had to test screen with her co-star. In the Marvel Universe, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones have a on-and-off relationship, which eventually leads to a child. As their alter-egos, they wouldn't have been cast if showrunner Melissa Rosenberg didn't see some charismatic spark between them.

5) Luke Cage Gets His Own Show

Colter will show up on A.K.A. Jessica Jones before he gets his own Netflix show, which is a great way to introduce fans. With Hayley Atwell playing the lead of her own TV show, Agent Carter, Marvel is doing more than just putting their female characters front-and-center. With Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Marvel and Netflix are also putting together two shows with minorities as their leads.

Marvel has picked its latest superhero for the upcoming Netflix series. Readers, are you excited to see Mike Colter play Luke Cage?
