After months and months of teasing, viewers are anxiously awaiting to see the January premiere of ABC's newest spy drama. Hot off the heels of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and straight after Captain America: The First Avenger, audiences will watch the return of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) on Marvel's Agent Carter.

As we previously mentioned here, Peggy (Atwell) tries to balance an office job and her other job in the male-dominated Strategic Scientific Reserve. Peggy attempts to pull off her juggling act, while going on secret missions with Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper). After Stark has been framed for selling weapons on the black market, can Peggy figure out how to clear his name?

Here are 5 reasons why we're excited to see Agent Carter:

5) It's A Period Piece

The wardrobe department will definitely be taking viewers on a trip to the past. That means no cellphones, internet, and social media as the show tries to replicate that stylish '40s look. That also means Peggy has to deal with sexism, especially when society deemed women could only work "in the kitchen."

4) Dominic Cooper's back

It's so good to see the Breakfast on Pluto actor reprise his Stark role. As a comic book fan, it makes me feel like the mythology is being setup. We do know the end of the series will be Stark and Carter setting up S.H.I.E.L.D. Does that mean Dr. Arnim Zola (Toby Jones) will be back too?

3) Nikita's Sidekick Is In It

We loved Lyndsy Fonseca on Nikita and we can't wait to see what she does as Angie Martinelli. The Kick-Ass actress held her own against the bad guys during those well-choreographed action sequences. I really hope there's a scene of Fonesca and Attwell kicking butt side-by-side.

2) Boardwalk Empire

After five seasons of Elias 'Eli' Thompson on Boardwalk Empire, I am so excited for primetime audiences to meet actor Shea Whigham. The Splinter actor plays SSR Chief Roger Dooley, Carter's gruff and snarky boss. There's going to be a lot of yelling, glares, and tough talk between them.

1) There's Going To Be A Lot Of Action

You really can't be a spy unless you know how to fight, shoot guns, and dodge bullets. Based on the footage from the trailers, we've seen secret agent Peggy Carter do all of that, plus jump on top of speeding car and speak with an American accent. I am really crossing my fingers for a second season.

Marvel's Agent Carter premieres January 6 at 8pm on ABC. Readers, are you excited to see Agent Carter?
