"Good Morning America" news anchor Robin Roberts has postponed plans to undergo bone marrow transplant until next week in order to spend some time with family and attend her mother's funeral in Mississippi (which took place on Thursday, Sept. 6). Now she's back home in New York, resting up before she must head in for her transplant. In the meantime, doctors have ordered the popular American newscaster to gain some weight in order to prepare herself for the upcoming surgery and recovery.

In a tweet posted on Thursday evening, Robins states:

@RobinRoberts: "Back home in NYC. Will rest a few days. Doctors orders to put on a lil weight...that's a first. Transplant now sched for next week. Onward."

Robins announced on ABC's "Good Morning America" last Thursday that she would be taking a temporary medical leave of absence for cancer treatment. Right after publicizing this news, she rushed down to Mississippi to be beside her ailing mother during her final hours. 88-year-old Lucimarian Roberts passed away shortly after.

Roberts was supposed to start treatment this week, but the death of her mother has delayed those plans. Looks like the "GMS" star is preparing and strengthening herself for next week's transplant, and she's keeping her fans informed 100% along the way. Best of luck and health to Roberts!
