Stephen Fry, British actor, writer, comedian, broadcaster and all-round good guy, has confirmed that he is marrying his partner, writer Elliot Spencer. The 57 year old QI quiz show host and The Hobbit: battle of the Five Armies actor will wed his 27 year old writer-comedian boyfriend in the next year, according to reports, and they popped out the front of Fry's London home for a couple of quick photos as the news broke after British newspaper The Sun discovered their 'declaration to marry' notice.

As The Daily Mail reported, "Nothing could wipe the smile from Stephen Fry's face as he emerged from his plush Piccadilly home with his husband-to-be Elliot Spencer - not even his fiance scratching his Bentley."

Spencer's parents, say The Daily Mail, are very excited by the announcement, telling reporters "'We are obviously very happy. We are over the moon, that is all I want to say."

As reported by The Daily Beast, after posing for the photos out the front of his London with Spencer, Fry said: "We are off now to celebrate our engagement."

They pointed out that Spencer is "variously described as a writer and stand u[p comic", but then in a macabre addition, say that the engagement comes "less than three years after Fry tried to kill himself with a cocktail of vodka and pills as his previous long-term relationship foundered."

Fry took to twitter to let the proverbial cat out of the bag, and then thanked all those for their kind words and congrats.

Of course, being that Fry resides in Britain, he was quickly plagued by tabloid journalists on his doorstep.

While some on twitter took umbrage at the pair's age difference, as The Guardian's Hannah Jane Parkinson pointed out, "People need to get over the idea that individuals who go for older partners are harbouring Freudian fantasies, or that those who go for younger ones (so long as they're above the age of consent) are somehow a bit creepy.

"They're not. They're just in love. So, good luck to Stephen and Elliott."

Hear, hear. Best of luck to the couple.
