According to another new Google Trends list released by the search engine company, video games have become quite the search query on YouTube. Google released its top search terms for YouTube videos of 2014, and two of the top 9 subjects were video games, with Minecraft coming in second overall. "Music" was the winner this year, but what about 2015? We expect gaming to be quite the popular genre in the New Year.

According to IGN, movies, Frozen, Drake, Beyonce, PewDiePie, Happy, and Eminem make up the rest of the top terms list. PewDiePie is the other gaming search term that made the list.
"Interest in gaming is also soaring on YouTube," Google said, accompanying this new list of trends. "In 2014, the second-most searched topic on YouTube is actually a game: Minecraft. What's more, it's not just the volume of views that is impressive. It's the level of engagement and time spent with gaming content that should make marketers do a double-take."
Another big gaming phenomenon is eSports, or video games as sports, that also showed up on Google's trending radar last year. Check out our latest eSports coverage here! Google's statement about the rise in gaming searches included information on this as well.
"One exciting and fast-growing category on YouTube is competitive gaming, also referred to as eSports," the statement went on to say. "As with pro sports (baseball and football, for example), it has iconic players, fans, team uniforms, playoffs, and more. Although the eSports phenomenon is garnering significant media attention and revenue, it's only part of a much larger gaming content ecosystem."
