Morgan Freeman died and so did Adam Sandler, Tony Danza, Jerry Springer and other Hollywood celebs in a growing list of death hoaxes in 2012.  From falling off the cliff to losing control of a vehicle, the rumors showed no mercy towards their targets.

Twitter and Facebook is able to spread the rumors in an instant causing it difficult to blow the fire out.  Even though the celebrities themselves confirmed their own well-being to their fans, it has been difficult to diffuse the rumors.

In Freeman's case, the RIP Morgan Freeman Facebook page already garnered nearly 1 million "likes" making this one of the most successful death hoaxes in internet history.  His representative has already released a statement through E! Online confirming that the Bruce Almighty star is "alive and well" and has been victimized, yet the "likes" are still pouring in on the scam Facebook page.

It's only a matter of time when death hoaxes will no longer have its effect on web users after they've been tricked time and time again by trolls.

Some fans have observed that death hoaxes are good publicity. Will stars go as far as fabricating their own death stories in order to promote their latest projects?  The answer is most likely "no", simply because death is not a pleasant subject to joke about.

It's time for web users to become aware that there are trolls who are trying to prank on innocent fans and to not help feed their ego by retweeting rumors.

Our advice to you is to not tweet about any potential rumor until you've confirmed the facts first.
