On Sunday's episode of E!'s hit reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," fertility issues ran rampant. And while Kim K learned that little Kanye Wests could indeed be part of her future, younger sis Khloe received the sad news that pregnancy may not be such a simple thing for her to come by.
28-year-old Khloe broke down when discussing her visit to a fertility doctor with Kim on the Sept. 9 episode, where she learned that she wasn't ovulating regularly. While her hormone levels came back normal, an ultrasound proved that she had not ovulated that month. According to the doctor who delivered the unfortunate news, "If you don't ovulate, you can't conceive."
Khloe then gets very emotional when discussing her reaction to the disheartening news, stating that she "freaks out" when thinking about the fact that she may never produce fertile eggs. She then gets a little teary-eyed and waves off the camera before "To be continued" flashes across the screen. In the upcoming season finale, Khloe must deliver the news to her NBA husband Lamar Odom.
Just because Khloe didn't ovulate doesn't exactly mean there's no chance of her getting pregnant - she just might need some outside help for that to happen. Right now, Khloe's gonadotropin levels are not in the correct range to allow her to successfully ovulate on her own. While Khloe lacks the necessary amount of follicle-stimulating hormones (FSH), fertility expert Dr. Brandon Bankowski explained to Hollywood Life that, "There are pills and injections that can force one to ovulate and replace the body signals."
During the airing of Sunday night's episode Khloe tweeted:
@KhloeKardashian: "I'm not a big crier. So I'm not too excited about what's coming up. Might have to stop watching. Sometimes hate reliving tough emotions."
Kim asked Khloe to join her for a fertility doctor visit, expressing interest in freezing her eggs now that she is "getting older." While Kim didn't exactly hint that her and current beau Kanye West are considering children, she got the go-ahead from the doctor to start freezing her eggs whenever she pleases.
Supposedly Khloe and Lamar have been attempting to get pregnant for some time now, so this news must have come as somewhat of a blow. But according to Dr. Bankowski, "She is young and it's a very treatable problem," so best of luck to the couple in their baby pursuit!
