Good news: not too many fans truly fell for this past weekend's "R.I.P Adam Sandler" death hoax, where rumors began to spread that the "Billy Madison" star had died in a freak snowboarding accident in Switzerland. Bad news: the "R.I.P Adam Sandler" Facebook page has still garnered over 65,000 'likes,' a number which manages to increase with each click of the 'refresh' button.

While Sandler fans may have 'liked' the page in order to warn other Facebook enthusiasts about the cruel death joke, it seems that such wide range attention merely influences the "R.I.P Adam Sandler" creator to keep going. The hoaxter is currently still posting "commemorative" pics, asking fans to post their sympathy and condolences. While many of the accompanying photo comments actually lambast the morbid "Big Daddy" death hoax mastermind for his terrible rumor, the "in memoriam" pictures themselves are still getting thousands of 'likes." So while many fans understand that the horrible "Sandler died" reports are ultimately untrue, the "R.I.P" topic/search is still trending all over Facebook, Twitter, and the web.

VOTE NOW: What should the punishment of the death hoax creator get?  Jail time? Tell us what you think!

Here is an "Adam Sandler death report" also posted on the prank news website Global Associated News, which added to the sordid celebrity death hoax rumors:

"Actor Adam Sandler is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today - September 11, 2012. (Obviously the website generates false up-to-the-date deaths).

The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Adam Sandler lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.

Adam Sandler was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."

Maybe the best thing would be not to influence these morbid hoaxters by granting them unwarranted social media and networking attention. Before expressing condolences on Twitter or Facebook, fact-check the fishy reports with other reliable news outlets. Fans, let's keep these celebrities alive both in the real world and in the cyber world.

Check out some of the backlash on the "R.I.P. Adam Sandler" Facebook page:

"Adam Sandler is not dead. This is some sick mofo's way of getting attention. Like someone mentioned earlier...had he died you'd be hearing about it all over the place that's for sure."

"There should be a law for lying about people being dead. What is wrong with this person? This is not funny at all. SHAME ON YOU."

"Seriously...this crap came from Global Associated Press. It's a hoax and it certainly isn't funny. If a page like this popped up about one of our family, would it be funny?! No... it's sick. This man has family too. Have some respect!"

"That desperate to be Facebook famous huh? That you gotta make up fake deaths to get likes, forget that, GOD bless YOUR silly little soul."

"All the people who like this s##t are so stupid. A group in FB says that he's dead and 60.000 believe it."
