The ComiXology app has teamed up with Marvel Comics to bring readers the popular Stars Wars catalog, based on the sci-fi franchise by visionary filmmaker George Lucas,. The backlist arrives before Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia make their return with all-new adventures in Marvel's Star Wars #1.

According to the press release, Marvel Comics has over 62 Star Wars collections on ComiXology. With about 8,000 pages of material, there are tons of entertaining stories to read and gorgeous artwork to behold. Once the first issue of Marvel's Star Wars arrives, the ongoing series will also be available.

As we previously mentioned, January kickstarts writer Jason Aaron (Original Sin), John Cassady (Astonishing X-Men), and colorist Laura Martin for Stars Wars #1. Then in February 2015, writer Kieron Gillen (Young Avengers) and artist Salvador Larroca (Ghost Rider) present Darth Vader #1, starring the most vile villain in the entire galaxy. And in March 2015, writer Mark Waid (Daredevil) and artist Terry Dodson (Uncannny X-Men) bring readers the 5-issue limited series starring Princess Leia.

In the first installment of Star Wars, right after Episode IV: A New Hope left off, Luke Skywalker and the ragtag band of rebels have just fought a major battle against the Galactic Empire. Fresh off their biggest victory yet, just because they destroyed of the massive battle station known as the Death Star, that doesn't mean the Empire is through with them. Join Luke, Princess Leia, smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca, droids C-3PO and R2-D2, and the rest of the Rebel Alliance as they strike out for freedom against the evil forces of Darth Vader and his master, the Emperor.

We previously mentioned, there will be a Jason Aaron/John Cassaday signing on Friday, January 16th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Midtown Comics Downtown in New York. Midtown Comics has also commissioned a set of exclusive vertical connecting covers by Mark Brooks for Star Wars #1, Darth Vader #1, and Princess Leia #1, which will be available in both color and black & white.

The ComiXology debut arrives just in time for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by Lost's J.J. Abrams. In the latest casting announcement, The Raid 2 stars Iko Uwai, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman have all joined up for supposedly "fight work" in the upcoming blockbuster.
