'Friday The 13th: The Game' Features Jason Voorhees' Camp Crystal Lake Return In Development! [WATCH]

The infamous horror icon Jason Voorhees is slashing away with his machete at the gaming industry. Camp Crystal Lake will never be the same when the hockey-masked mass murderer get his own horror/survival videogame, entitled Friday the 13th: The Videogame.

Based on the Friday the 13th franchise, the camp counselors were screwing around when they forgot to check up on the bullied Jason. Because he never learned how to swim, Jason died screaming as he sunk to the bottom of the lake. After being pushed around one too many times, Jason gave back from the dead as a machete-wielding maniac.

The last time audiences saw Jason on the big screen was in the Friday the 13th remake, starring Jared Padalecki, of Supernatural fame, and Danielle Panabaker, of The Flash fame. And now there is a game currently in development. The slasher icon had a NES game of his own, back in 1989.

Gamers will play the masked killer as well in a co-operative and competitive multiplayer predator/prey horror experience. You can control Jason as he is pitted against a small group of resourceful survivors.

Producer/director Sean S. Cunningham of the original film is involved in the gaming project. In an exclusive interview with EGM[NOW], Cunningham states, "With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form."

The Last House on the Left producer adds, "We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."
