‘The Avengers’ Writer-Producer Brian Clemens Dead At 83 Before ‘Age Of Ultron’ Film Release [VIDEO]

It's being reported that famed screenwriter and producer Brian Clemens has recently passed away at the age of 83-years-old. The writer-producer was noted for his illustrious work on The Avengers ... but not the newfound successful films; Clemens worked closely on the 1960s television version along with The Professionals. His death comes before the release of the second Avengers movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron.

News of his passing comes from Deadline, who notes that the prolific writer was born way back in 1931 and initial began his career as a messenger boy for J. Walter Thompson advertising. While working, the writer submitted a play titled Valid For Single Journey Only to the BBC, which eventually brought him some notice in the world of showbiz ... specifically from the Danziger brothers. He soon became a writer for their "low-budget indie outfit," which included a number of successes.

In his 30s, Clemens worked on the television-version of The Avengers, even becoming the head honcho on the staff.

Afterwards, Deadline notes that Clemens became a strong force in the United States television world, working for Remington Steele, Perry Mason and Highlander.

As far as film, his credits included the likes of See No Evil, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, And Soon The Darkness, and many others.

According to the BFI, Clemens' career was "almost the history of the action-adventure genre of British television. His scripts have enlivened almost every action-drama series see on television over the last 50 years."
