Chicago Bears teammates Kyle Long and Martellus Bennet have engaged in a Twitter spat after one of them unfollowed the other. Offensive linesman and right guard Long and tight end Bennett proved that the Bears don't even need to be on the field to continue to confuse and dismay fans, with the 5-11 Bears season ending three weeks ago in a hail of terribly thrown Jay Cutler passes with a 13-9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, which led to the eventual firing of coach Marc Trestman. But, y'know, at least former Denver Broncos main guy John Fox is interviewing to be their new coach.

As Vice Sports report, Kyle long kicked the spat off, tweeting out his apparent displeasure at being unfollowed by teammate and fellow offensive line man Bennett, saying: "I'm afraid I have to reciprocate your act. You have been unfollowed."

Man. Brutal. No word on why Bennett unfollowed Long in the first place: perhaps he really hates Long's alma mater, the Oregon Ducks, who played in the National College Football Championship last night?

Maybe he was upset because he thought he was Long's BFF?

Either way. As The Chicago Sun-Times reports, Bennett took a day or two to ruminate on what he had done, suddenly spurring into action and tweeting out:

"why are you worried about who is following you on twitter? More important shit is happening in my world than Kyle Long's tweets"

But not content to let it lie, Bennett went back to the well to yell into the ether/at his teammate, calling into question his basis for self esteem:

Said Bennett: "I don't need this form of social currency maybe you do. If a follow from me is going to make you feel wealthier socially, then [cont]

u need to get out more. I prefer our day to day interactions in person. But that's just me. You have my number. Stop the bullshit"

Bennett obviously then took a breather and thought about his actions, and wished all the fans following a grown man yelling at a football teammate for unfollowing him on twitter, "a day full of adventure and discovery." Thanks Martellus.

But still. Marcellus. Mute, bro, mute.
