FX has released a new casting announcement for the upcoming Season 2 of The Strain. Based on the Dark Horse Comics adaption of his own vampire novels, visionary director Guillermo Del Toro adds Joaquín Cosío to join Corey Stoll (Ephraim Goodweather) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) to fight against The Master?

The first season follows Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Maestro) as they discover a deadly vampire plague spreading across New York City. As they search for a cure, an old and retired vampire hunter, Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) and a rat exterminator, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand) join the crusade to face off an ancient evil. They must all work together to save the world from The Master.

HitFix reports that the El Infierno actor Joaquín Cosío will join the cast playing Angel Guzman Hurtado. In the Dark Horse comic, Hurtado used to be the masked Mexican wrestler, The Silver Angel. With a bad knee, the whole world has forgotten of his trademark signature move and wrestling movies.

As we previously mentioned, the Devil's Backbone filmmaker dropped a few hints about the second season, which seems to be based on book two of his The Strain trilogy,The Fall. If the show follows the source material closely, the ex-wrestler joins Gus (played by Miguel Gómez) after his Hispanic neighborhood is overrun by the nasty bloodsuckers.

Del Toro teased, "We start withThe Strain in November, and I'm going to be shooting a creature unit, the action unit, and I'm going to be shooting the Mexican luchador footage, the black-and-white footage that appears in the series."

We are definitely anxious to see Cosío in these flashback scenes.
