Season 4 of Person of Interest delivered the climatic third part of its epic and action-packed trilogy on CBS. With Shaw (Sarah Shahi) missing in action, will Finch (Michael Emerson), and Reese (Jim Caviezel) need help as they deal with a "reckless and brazen" Gabriel, Samaritan in human form.

In the first part of our recap, the Samaritan wanted to meet with Root and sent in its avatar, a little boy named Gabriel. Seeing The Machine as a fallen God, the Samaritan would take its place and promised to enslave humanity, in order to protect it. In the cliff-hanger, the Samaritan unleashed a virus onto Wall Street and forced the stocks trade to take a nosedive.

In the second part of our recap, the Machine had to come up with a simulation where Root and the others survived a deadly shootout. Unfortunately, Martine and her operatives arrived ahead of time. In their last moment together, Shaw (Shahi) kissed Root (Amy Acker) before sacrificing herself to save them. Root screamed as loud as she could as she watched Martine point her gun at Shaw's head.

In the third part of our recap, Root and Reese captured Control (Camryn Mannheim) to find out where Samaritan is keeping Shaw. Unfortunately, Control didn't know anything, especially how Samaritan caused the stock market crash. Control discovered Finch was telling the truth; she is being used by the Artificial Intelligence and kept in the dark.

In the shocking cliffhanger, Gabriel showed up at the office of the White House Chief of Staff, demanding a visit with the President.

Creator/co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan teases IGN this won't be the last time audiences see the creepy little kid, " I think the emphasis is that we operate under the idea that Samaritan is playing in the shadows. Maybe it's getting a little more reckless in its actions, but it understands that the general public isn't capable of imagining any more than they really would. They could never fathom its existence."

Nolan continues, "So in our world, Samaritan is still lurking in the shadows, but it's willing to do more and more public acts that it knows no one will attribute to it. Where it's willing to draw the more ire and attention is with its fellow AI, which is The Machine. It starts to get a little more brazen with the way it's taking control of human beings. Almost as a bit of a "f*** you" to The Machine."

As we previously mentioned, Shahi is indeed leaving the show because she is pregnant in real life. This means Shaw will indeed be written off somehow, which could mean an interesting direction in the sci-fi/action series.

Person of Interest continues Tuesdays at 10pm on CBS for the third part of its trilogy. Readers, what did you think of Control-Alt-Delete?
