Known as Chewbacca to many Star Wars fans, the man behind the Wookiee costume has just been sent to the hospital. Actor Peter Mayhew, who will be back in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the same role, has been hospitalized for pneumonia.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Star Wars actor has indeed been hospitalized with pneumonia. The news was confirmed on Mayhew's official Twitter account.

@TheWookieeRoars states, "Hey all, @Webmaster_Rick here. Peter is recovering well from his bout of pneumonia. He thanks you for the well wishes!!!"

The wife of the The Muppet Show guest star, Angie Mayhew, posted a Reddit message to update fans. Though the Empire Strikes Back actor will remain in the hospital for a few more days, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Mayhew writes, "Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers, good vibes, and happy thoughts," Angie wrote. "Doctors are incredibly happy with his improvements."

We mentioned here, the British actor will reprise his famous his role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We're betting that's Chewie in pilot seat of the Millennium Falcon, doing all those crazy dives and spins.

As we previously mentioned, Marvel Comics has just released Star Wars #1. Writer Jason Aaron and artist John Cassady jump right into the story after the end credits Episode IV: A New Hope. The Rebels are still celebrating after the destruction of the Death Star. With the Imperial Forces in disarray, the Rebels aim to press forward with a daring offensive attack.

In our MStars News review, we loved how Aaron brought to life the characters with his snappy dialogue. Chewbacca returns for an all-out battle with Darth Vader that is definitely must-read. In every single panel, Cassady's artwork is quite glossy and painterly, especially when it comes down to the action sequences.

We at MStars wish Mayhew a speedy recovery and feels better soon.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on December 18, 2015 and the first issue of Star Wars is out in stores now. Readers, are you excited to see Peter Mayhew back as Chewbacca?
