Poor Lindsay Lohan. Coming off the rave reviews of her London West End Show Speed-the-Plow, the star has checked herself into the hospital. And no, it's not rehab or anything like that. The stay's actually for a pretty rare disease. During the star's time in French Polynesia, she contracted the rare virus known as the Chikungunya virus, and it's being reported that her stint in the hospital yesterday was in connection to the ailment.

According to TMZ, the Mean Girls starlet was brought to the hospital in relation to the illness yesterday.

While vacationing in Bora Bora during the New Year's holiday, Lindsay contracted the virus, but it was upon her return to London that she reportedly started feeling a re-emergence of symptoms and was taken to the hospital.

The site's reporting that she went to King Edward VII Hospital where she complained of joint pain and a high fever.

According to E! News, the symptoms of the virus can range from rashes, fatigue, nausea, headaches, muscle pain, fevers and joint point, and according to reports the virus can last anywhere from six months to a year.

"The doctors told her it could take six months to a year for the virus to clear up," an insider explained to the site. "She has good days and bad. Right now, she's not doing so well."

The star first posted about her symptoms from the disease right before the new year on her Instagram account. But it seems Lindsay is refusing to let the virus get her down, as she posted a snap from her Bora Bora vacation, writing, "In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation."

According to TMZ, Lindsay was released from the hospital after her fever broke but has been referred to a specialist. Her mother Dina is also currently on her way across the pond to be with her daughter during this rough time.

Get well soon, Linds!
