Samsung mocked the iPhone 5 with a new ad for their top-selling Galaxy S3 smartphone. The newspaper advertisement campaign featured "It doesn't take a genius" in bold with an image of a white-colored Galaxy 3S almost butting heads with a black-colored iPhone 5 covered partly in the shadows. Their features were listed side by side with more listed in favor of the Galaxy S3.
The iPhone 5 was recently unveiled at an Apple conference on Sept. 12, 2012 with the official in store release date on Sept. 21st. The Galaxy S3 has been out for some time already.
The pokes Apple further with the statement at the end of the ad, "The next big thing is already here."
Apple fans defended their favorite brand and some fans responded back to the ad with phrases like "Don't settle for cheap plastic."
Samsung has attacked Apple before with another ad for the predecessor, Galaxy S2. At that time, Samsung defended themselves and stated through Samsung Mobile President Dale Sohn to PCMag last year, "We're excited for the opportunity to educate as many consumers as possible about why the Samsung Galaxy S II is the preferred choice for smartphone owners."
Samsung has not responded to inquiries about the latest ad for the Galaxy S3.
Samsung recently lost in a court case to Apple for matters related to design and software and is expected to pay a hefty fine of $1 billion.
Apple's stocks and sales did not shake at all from the ad. Rather, Apple is doing very well and has sold out of their iPhone 5 phones within one hour of preorder sales on Sept. 14, 2012.
