The former costar of Selena Gomez on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place, David Henrie has been cast as Ronald Reagan in the first biopic movie project based on the 40th President of the United States of America. Entitled Reagan, this independent film isn't actually about the Republican President we all know, but the young actor and future politician that eventually became the Commander in Chief. Check out more details on this project below!

According to Slash Film, this movie is based on the KGB agent that was assigned to keep an eye on the young actor and strict anti-communist. He was also the Screen Actors Guild president, but we're guessing the Soviets were more concerned about the anti-communism part of his life. Henrie is now set to star in the movie, which has yet to sign a director.

"It's a universal film with universal values and principles," the actor, who also played Ted Mosby's son on CBS's How I Met Your Mother, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will take place from the point-of-view of the KGB spy named Viktor, but there is no news on the casting of that part just yet. Back in 2012, this project was in the works with seasoned actor Jon Voight up for the KGB role, so we should see an older star cast sometime soon.

This movie is being adapted from two Paul Kengor biographies: The Crusader and God & Ronald Reagan.

"Viktor is actually a character based on a number of KGB agents and Soviet analysts who we now know were tasked with keeping tabs on Ronald Reagan for many years," Kengor previously said. "This is a feature film and not a documentary and I thought it was a smart way for the producers to keep the integrity of the story and yet make it entertaining."
