iOS 6 Release Time: Need-to-Know Facts Before Downloading New Apple System

A common question asked by Apple users is whether it's worth it or not to download the latest iOS. Some devices have slower and older systems.

The majority of reviews suggest that it is worth it to download the free upgrade.  There are many new and improved features that you will wonder how you ever lived without, according to TechCrunch.

However, the biggest flaw that everyone agrees with is the in-house Apple maps.  Google maps was removed and the new Apple maps is definitely a step down from what Google maps user are accustomed to.

New York Times pointed out that "Apple says that Google had been steadily improving its Maps app - but only for Android phones, leaving the iPhone in the dust."  As a result, Apple decided to develop their own to give users a better experience that includes spoken navigation, vector maps and more.  However, there is no street view and smaller database compared to Google.

Other than the maps, the other features were warmly welcomed by Apple iOS reviewers.  Some of the most popular features that were highlighted were small but useful including the "Do Not Disturb" option, the new call response options, the shared photo stream and the VIP email inbox among others.

The CultofMac also pointed out that "Siri's ability to give intelligent answers has broadened considerably."

The Daily Telegraph said "there is a lot to be praised in iOS" and that  "it remains a stable, solid operating system with the sort of attention to detail for which Apple has become known."

"However, the highlight features in iOS 6 are underwhelming and, in the case of Maps, worryingly error phone," they added.

The New York Times said, "In general, you should go get it-and you sacrifice very little (a few Maps features) and gain a lot."
