Rapper J. Cole is sticking up for Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea after dissing her on his "Fire Squad" track in which he predicted that the 25-year-old would be nominated for a rap album due to her race rather than her skill in her rhymes.

In an interview with The Combat Jack Show, J. Cole touched on the most talked about Hip Hop backlash from artists and fans on the success of Iggy's "Reclassified" album.

"It's not even Iggy Azalea's fault, she's chasing her dream. It doesn't matter the quality of her music but I have to comment, it's my job to tell you what's on my mind in the slickest way ever...When history is told Macklemore is in them books, Iggy Azalea's in them books," he said.

The "Forest Hills Drive" rapper seems to be following the footsteps of his rap brethren, Kendrick Lamar who also stuck up for the "Fancy" rapper. In an interview with Billboard.com, the TDE rapper supported the rapper despite the backlash she has received from Hip Hop artists, especially rival female rapper Azealia Banks.

"She's doing her thing. Let her. People have to go through trials and tribulations to get where they at. Do your thing, continue to rock it, because obviously God wants you here," he said.
