Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch could be fined for his appearance at NFL Super Bowl Media Day wearing a 'Beast Mode' hat, after spending most of Tuesday's appearance saying "I'm just here so I won't get fined," then repeating the act on Wednesday, saying "You know why I'm here." Oh, sweet irony. Ahead of this Sunday's 2015 Super Bowl at the University of Phoenix stadium in Arizona, Lynch could now be facing a "significant fine" for wearing the hat, which is his own personal brand, and not one affiliated with the NFL. At least he knows that his quarterback Russell Wilson and coach Pete Carroll are in his corner, with Carroll saying he's "a guy being himself and not being what everyone wants him to be."
But... um...

It's an odd mix, as 'Beast Mode' is Marshawn Lynch's personal brand, and technically he's affiliated with the NFL by virtue of, yep, being employed by an NFL franchise.
But, as ESPN report, sources told the network that the NFL "will review whether the hat Lynch wore during the event, which bears his "Beast Mode" logo, was permissible. If the NFL rules that Lynch used media day to promote a brand that was not approved by the league, he could face a significant fine."

As NFL.com's Kevin Patra explains, "Players are not allowed to wear brands that conflict with league partners on the field, during postgame press conferences and at league events, such as Super Bowl Media Day."

As ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, Lynch's teammate, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson came to his defense saying "I just think that sometimes we focus on things that don't matter and don't make any difference."
He added that his his running back -- who was also fined for a crotch-grabbing gesture in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers -- is simply a "great football player" who "puts his work in every day and is dedicated to the game of football and dedicated to his teammates."
Wilson added that he doesn't believe Lynch ought to be fined "especially to extent that people try to fine him."
Wilson explained that "The guy loves the game. Sometimes people try to take away from people the way they are. I don't think he should be fined, personally."
Carroll on Marshawn: "I think that you're seeing a demonstration of a guy being himself and not being what everyone wants him to be."

His coach Pete Caroll agreed, telling reporters, including the USA Today's Tom Pelissero, "I think that you're seeing a demonstration of a guy being himself and not being what everyone wants him to be."
What do you think? Should Beast Mode be fined for wearing a Beast Mode hat?
