The recently announced Heroes reboot TV series, Heroes Reborn, is coming later in 2015, but we won't be seeing fan-favorite character Sylar in any of the new NBC episodes. Star Zachary Quinto this week revealed the news that he won't be reprising his role on the superhero/villain TV show, but is still excited about it. Speaking with Buzzfeed this week at the Sundance Film Festival, Quinto surely broke some fans' hearts.

"No, I'm not going to go back," the actor explained, continuing, "I talked to them about it, and [executive producer Tim Kring] reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me - I loved that job, I loved those people. [...] I just felt like I didn't want to go back to it."

While we're sure fans will miss Sylar in the rebooted series, Quinto insures us that his relationship with the crew is fine despire him turning down the role.

"Tim was very, very understanding, Tim Kring," Quinto said. "He was very understanding and supportive. I'm thrilled that they're doing it, I'm thrilled that Jack Coleman is going back to it. And I know that they just cast Zach Levi, which is great. I mean, it's a great thing to be a part of. I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself."

Though Quinto isn't returning to the series, Heroes was definitely his breakthrough role that created a lucrative career for the actor. Since playing Sylar, Quinto has become a household name for his roles in the Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness movies, and the American Horror Story TV franchise. According to Slash Film, he can next be seen on NBC's upcoming drama series The Slap.
