Many reports covering “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie casting news feature celebrities who would be honored to accept the roles of either Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele. But what about those A-listers who say “No way!” to the prospect of starring in the kinky film – starlets like Keira Knightley and Selena Gomez? According to Knightley, she would much rather focus on projects that are “happy and positive” instead.
When asked by NOW magazine how she would feel about taking on the role of Steele, 27-year-old Knightley had this to say:
"Absolutely not! Just from what I've heard - f**k no. The hardest thing to capture about love is the actual physical intimacy between two people. The way two people behave when they are next to each other and touching each other. That's a difficult thing to capture on film."
So, for those of you who think Knightley would fit the part of Steele quite well, better turn your vote to a different fan favorite – maybe someone like Lucy Hale, Emma Watson, or Alexis Bledel.
Another female celeb not too keen on the role? Justin Bieber’s sweetheart Selena Gomez. Which might be a good thing; at 20-years-old she might be a tad bit too young.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Gomez said, “I know I’m taking risks, but I don’t think I could do that! That would be a little too much for me. I think someone older should do the part.”
While actress Julianne Moore would probably be too old to take on the role of Steele (the popular “Fifty Shades” character is a recent college graduate while the “Hannibal” actress is 51), she once described the “Fifty Shades” series as “awful.” Guess it’s a good thing she’s not considered for the part…
Elizabeth Olsen, the younger sister of the Olsen twins, made her answer as to whether she’d accept the role of Steele very clear – “No! No! No!”
Some popular male actors don’t even want the highly-coveted role of Christian Grey, no matter how much the part might benefit his career. Would the attractive 32-year-old “Star Trek” actor Chris Pine consider it? Apparently not – “I'm not doing it, no.”
The roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey may be intriguing and exciting for some – but can fans blame other celebrities for not wanting to take part in the kinky and extremely sexual film? What do “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans think of Knightley’s response to playing Steele?
