ATVs can be dangerous, just ask Honey Boo Boo Child's daddy Sugar Bear. Rumors surfaced that Sugar Bear's leg would have to be amputated after a TMZ report stated that he underwent emergency surgery "to treat a nasty infection in a leg wound"  after experiencing a bad ATV accident last week. But according to the Thompson clan, the amputation reports are just rumors and Sugar Bear is expected to make a full recovery soon.

According to Honey Boo Boo's (aka, child pageant queen-turned-reality star Alana Thompson) mama June Shannon, the leg amputation claims are "100% false" and that doctors expect Sugar Bear to make a full recovery. He should be able to return to work in a matter of four weeks.

Following the ATV accident, Sugar Bear was spotted walking around on crutches in order to support his injured left leg. TMZ reports that he sustained the injury from "mud boggin'" - a popular type of off-road motorsport (something which Honey Boo Boo child's fam takes part in a lot on their popular TLC reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo). The wound soon became infected, and reports claim he then had to be re-hospitalized for debridement - a surgical procedure that removes infected tissue from the body so that it can heal properly. The leg amputation rumors were sparked because of the surgery.

Sugar Bear's family - wife June and daughters Honey Boo Boo, Chickadee, Chubbs, and Pumpkin (all nicknames obviously) - all visited the man of the southern household while he was in the hospital recovering. June reports that he is in high spirits and even craving some "peanut butter crackers." So all seems well! Here's to hoping for a quick and healthy recovery, so that Sugar Bear and the crew may continue entertaining fans with their self-described "redneck" antics (well, entertain some, insult and shame others).

"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" airs on Wednesdays on TLC at 10 p.m. E.T.
