Penny Marshall opened up about things not known about the director and comedienne in her book "My Mother Was Nuts"  The memoir clears up many rumors that were speculated and misrepresented by tabloids including details about her health, relationship with former co-star Cindy Williams and more.

"[I'm] clean as a whistle," Marshall said to ET referring to her health.  Apparently tabloids have claimed that Marshall almost died after a cancer scare.

"The rags write about it and they're wrong...They have me dying every three months.  It's bulls-t. I can't get work so I wrote a book instead," she continued.

Marshall also shares about her romances with Rob Reiner and Art Garfunkel in the past, however she tells Huffington Post that there is no one special that she is seeing currently.

She is a survivor of cancer and feels very fortunate to have "dodged the biggest bullet yet -- the C bullet."

"And I'm the only [cancer patient] who gains weight -- 60 pounds -- and I got hard nails,"  she said to the Post.

Her honest mistakes were also unveiled in the book including her drug habit back in 70s.

"In the '70s [drugs] were what everyone did. It wasn't like everyone did it all day long.  And those [who] overdid it died, unfortunately," she said.  Now, she is completely clean and explained she's allergic to everything.
