Katie Holmes Ex-Boyfriend Joshua Jackson: Reaches out to Former Co-Star After Tom Cruise Split

Will Katie Holmes' divorce from Tom Cruise rekindle a former "Dawson's Creek" romance, or maybe at least a reunion? According to actor Joshua Jackson (who dated Holmes for a brief period during Dawson's Creek first season in 1998) the 33-year-old actress gave him a call following her split from Cruise, just to catch up and reconnect. Jackson claimed the phone convo was "very nice" and that the two stars had a long talk about their current lives.

34-year-old Jackson admitted on the Canadian television talk show "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight" that he had recently been in touch with his former teen co-star Holmes. The catch-up was apparently light and casual - Jackson described it as, "Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh, hi how are ya? What's going on?'"

The duo even made some jokes about how they haven't seen each other in a while. Holmes supposedly bluntly stated to Jackson, "I had a kid" (referring to 6-year-old daughter Suri). He responded back with, "'Yeah, that's crazy, I heard!'"

While rumors have it that Holmes and Jackson were romantically involved back in the 1990s, the relationship was never confirmed or made public. Jackson has been in a long-term relationship with German actress Diane Kruger.

But that doesn't mean a "Dawson's Creek" reunion isn't out of the question. Supposedly before filing for divorce from husband Tom Cruise, Holmes had been interested in pursuing a potential film with Jackson and co-star James Van Der Beek (Dawson). Apparently then-hubby Cruise hadn't been too keen on the idea. One source tells Us Weekly:

"[Producers] were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie. Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad. To the contrary, Holmes didn't care how 'low-brow' he [thought] Dawson's Creek is. She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun."

The hit WB show "Dawson's Creek" aired from 1998 to 2003. Holmes married Cruise in 2006 and their divorce was finalized in July 2012.
