The iPhone 5 prank played in Amsterdam is adding hype to the highly anticipated phone that has not been released in the Netherlands just yet. iPhone5.nl pranksters decided to play a funny trick on the Apple fanatics that were waiting for the iPhone 5 release date in their country.
The team plastered superglue onto the front screen of the iPhone 5 and stuck it on the pavement of the busiest street in Amsterdam. They put a hidden camera to catch the reactions of people walking by. Hilarious responses from residents and tourists were caught by the camera. Many people stopped and tried to pick up the phone and one female was caught stomping on it with her feet.
The people who caught the phone in sight were surprisingly respectful to each other and took their turns to get give it a try to get the iPhone 5 off the pavement. However, no one had luck for anyone since it was superglued.
The text written on the ground next to the iPhone 5 read, "Order @ iPhone5.nl"
The smartphone will be available 1 week later than the US, which came out on Sept. 21, 2012. Apple reported that within 3 days of the release in stores, 5 million units have been sold in the U.S. It is only available in 9 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the U.K. and the U.S. On Friday, Sept. 28, 22 more countries including the Netherlands will get their hands on the world's most popular smartphone.
