Reports have it that E.L James, author of the hit erotica novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," recently admitted that she would not like to see "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson take on the role of Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated upcoming film adaptation of the kinky novel. And apparently R-Patz isn't too happy about being denied the role, jokingly insinuating (well, hopefully joking) that James and producers will "pay" for their decision to cast him out.
Pattinson admitted to Entertainmentwise, "I think the author has written me out of it [meaning the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' film]. I saw some interview earlier and they went, oh, it could never be him. And I'm like, 'Hey, I'm going to make you pay for that.'"
Funny that James doesn't want Pattinson for the part, considering the erotic relationship between "Fifty Shades of Grey" characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele is loosely based on the relationship between the two main characters in the "Twilight" series, Bella and Edward (in which Pattinson plays the lead male role). Apparently, James also thinks that Kristen Stewart (who portrays Bella in the "Twilight" films) is "too weird" to take on the part of Steele. Guess James' sensual trilogy is mostly based off of the characters from Stephenie Meyer's four vampire-themed fantasy romance novels, not from the popular film adaptations.
26-year-old Pattinson appears somewhat offended that he is not considered for the role, and goes on to indirectly insult James:
"It's funny seeing all these other actors so openly like vying for it. I've never seen that happen before. It's so strange. I haven't read the whole thing, I read bits of it, there's a book called '50 Sheds of Grey,' have you seen that book? That's amazing, just a picture book of '50 Grey Sheds,' and it's literally on the New York Times Best Seller List. People have got the wrong read."
In other Pattinson-Stewart-"Twilight" related news, it looks like the Hollywood duo is officially back together following a rather public breakup over the summer (after K-Stew was caught cheating with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders). So looks like if both celebs were offered the roles of Grey and Steele (which doesn't seem like a huge possibility anyway) it wouldn't be so awkward after all.
