Sonny Moore aka Skrillex is the latest celebrity to be a victim to the trending social media death hoax. Apparently, rumors surfaced that Skrillex is dead after being shot 12 times as a latest "R.I.P. Skrillex" Facebook page was created and received 7,000 likes.

A fake CNN page which was dated June 20, 2012 had a headline that "Famous DJ Skillex Shot 12 Times," and gave further details that it all happened in Mexico. Also, another high profile news source was duplicated and became a part of the scam. A fake BBC page posted a photo of the electronic music producer and singer-song writer on its front page and says, "Grammy-winning Americain dubstep musician, Sonny John Moore (Also known as "Skrillex") was shot last night twelve times. He was pronounced dead earlier this morning." If you've noticed the typo in "American," the extra "I" would have never been overlooked by an editor of BBC.

Previously, Morgan Freeman was another celebrity who was thought to be dead after someone posted a fake Facebook page which received almost 850,000 "likes" before realizing it was a fake. Freeman's actual rep had to make a statement to E News, "Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax,"

We wonder how long these pranksters will hold this social media "Death Hoax" thing up.
