Winky D responded to a death hoax that spread the lie that the Zimbabwean artist had died in a car accident. He called the rumors "deceptive" and his manager Jonathan Banda spoke out on behalf of the MaNinja singer.
"Yes, I have been receiving calls especially from relatives and fans inquiring about Winky's death and I must say it is very disturbing that people would spread such rumours. He was never involved in an accident and he spent the whole of Friday in the studio," manager Banda said.
"Whoever started the rumour hates the lad. Winky has been on top of his game now and there are some people who hate him. That's why they have started the rumours to distract his attention," he continued.
Winky D also took to his Facebook page and wrote, "Contrary to the deceptive rumour that gained currency on the morning of Sunday the 23rd of September 2012, yours truly the Ninja President is alive and selflessly living up to preaching the dynamic quests of the ghetto youths."
"I urge all the Ninjas to take the rumour with a smile and not allow such misguided elements to deter us in our battle for a better ghetto. BAAAANNNNGGGG!"
Death hoaxes have become very common ever since social media outlets have provided a platform for messages and news to spread in a second across the world. Glad that Winky D is alive and well.
