Kara Alongi was reportedly missing on Sunday afternoon after a series of scary tweets were posted on Alongi's Twitter account. The 16-year-old tweeted, "There is somone in my hour ecall 911."
Immediately, the Twitter community reacted to the tweet calling for help to find the teenage girl. Very quickly, #helpfindkara began to trend and the police in Clark, New Jersey began to take the call seriously.
Twitter users were sincerely concerned about Alongi and responded with great fear and horror about the possibility that she was kidnapped.
People on the social networking site tweeted and retweeted messages to call for help.
@ICONiCat - Kara Alongi from Clark NJ went missing tonight please call 911 if you see her! Please retweet it could save her life!
@LindseyAllerton - Everyone please help @karaalongi she went missing today in her home #helpfindkara
@rachel_fan23 - guys a girl in my neighboring town is missing please help tweet #helpfindkara @karaalongi
According to Nj.com, police had gone to her home and the site updated at 11:55p.m. EST that the Clark police chief Alan Scherb said, "We don't feel any foul play was involved. There was nothing disturbed inside the home." He urged Alongi to call the police. "Obviously, our concern is for your safety," Scherb said according to NJ.com.
According to the Patch, Scherb also said, "We still don't know whether she ran away or if there was any foul play... The door was open. Kara, if you see this, please contact your parents or Clark Police. You will not be in trouble. We are concerned for your safety."
Unfortunately, another rumor has also begun to spread that Alongi played a joke on Twitter to trick people.
A photoshopped image was posted by a Twitter user that was later deleted that read, "Wtf? Why is everyone saying I'm missing? I was jkin haha."
An account that was created for Alongi titled @Find__Kara tweeted a post that was far from the truth, "We're doing a Twitter Moment of Silence (no tweeting) in 15 minutes, to respect Kara Alongi, who was killed. RETWEET TO GET THE WORD OUT."
The many tweets involving Alongi on Twitter may be confusing for many.
@JALipscomb - Is this whole Kara Alongi thing real or not? #canttell
At this point, Alongi is still missing. If you know where Alongi may be, please call the Clark Police at 732-388-3434.
More details may come out revealing more facts about the story. We all hope that she is not missing and that all is well with her.

Corrections: An earlier version of the article did not acknowledge the Twitter image as photoshopped. The earlier version also included "Girl Who Cried Wolf?" at the end of the title misleading readers to question the validity of the teenage girl's cry for help. It has now been corrected above. Mstarz apologizes for the previous misreport.
