Based on the popular sci-fi franchise from visionary director, George Lucas, Marvel Comics delivers a must-read Star Wars spinoff centering on Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan (Played by Carrie Fisher). Princess Leia #1 continues Lei's quest to to become one of the greatest leaders in the galaxy, while trying to find a place to call home.

According to the plot synopsis, Princess Leia Organa remembers when she captured by the Empire as a Rebel spy. After she was tortured by Vader, Leia was helpless to stop the complete obliteration of her home world, Alderaan. When rescue  finally came from Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, she grabbed a blaster and joined the fight. While the Rebel Alliance celebrates victory and destruction of the first Death Star, what will the princess do now that she is an orphan, without a home world?

As we previously mentioned, writer Mark Waid (S.H.I.E.L.D.) and artist Terry Dodson (Avengers & X-Men: AXIS) are the creative team behind this new story about Leia's epic quest for freedom and self-identity.

In an interview with Marvel, Waid explains Leia's upcoming character arc, "How does she really cope with losing her entire world once the events around that loss have calmed down somewhat? Does she choose to be a princess of nothing - or does she set out to rebuild her heritage and civilization?"

In our MStars News review of the first Star Wars issue, we loved how Jason Aaron brought to life the characters with his snappy dialogue. The love/hate banter between Leia and Han is back again. In every single panel, artist John Cassady's artwork is quite glossy and painterly, especially during the battle between Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

Darth Vader #1, from writer Kieron Gillen (Young Avengers) and artist Salvador Larroca (Ghost Rider) is already out in stores now.

Princess Leia #1 arrives in stores in March.

Readers, what do you think of the artwork?
