WWE fans are clamoring for Daniel Bryan to get into the main event of WrestleMania 31 to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. What the fans do not want, by and large, is for Roman Reigns, the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble, to get the spot he rightfully won.

Luckily, Bryan has a chance to get into the main event when he faces Reigns at Fast Lane for the right to face Lesnar. Rumors have been swirling about this match for weeks. Some claim Reigns will go over Bryan and move on to Mania, while others insist there will be some sort of dirty finish that leads to a Triple Threat Match at Mania.

On the surface, a Triple Threat sounds like a fine idea. But should WWE actually go through with it?

First, let's consider the conflicting rumors that have been circulating. The latest report from The Wrestling Observer says WWE's plan for the main event of WrestleMania 31 is to pit Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan, and Roman Reigns against each other in a Triple Threat match. The report also notes that this plan could change between now and the Fast Lane pay-per-view next Sunday.

But keep in mind what noted Reddit user MetsFan4Ever posted last Friday:

"I have been told and it has been 100% confirmed that Roman Reigns is indeed defeating Daniel Bryan at WWE Fast Lane.

I was also told the only reason this match was made was to quiet the 'marks' for a few weeks while they try to get Roman over. Regardless of the reaction in the next few weeks, Roman is the man and will be headlining WrestleMania and defeating Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.

I've also been told that despite his smaller size, Bryan is considered one of the more physical in ring workers in the WWE. Thus he has been picked to work with Roman to get him ready for the physicality that is Brock Lesnar. It is comparing Bryan to Curtis Axel. Bryan is the Curtis Axel to Roman's Rock.

The last reason I was given is that WWE knows full well that people are going to watch WrestleMania no matter what. I was told they could've put Doink vs. Brock Lesnar and the fans would be watching. At this point, WWE considers the WrestleMania name bigger than any of the superstars on the show."

But from a creative standpoint, should WWE actually do the Triple Threat? It worked last year with Batista and Randy Orton because it was an organic extension of the story WWE was telling. Batista came in and won the Rumble, and the fans revolted. To some degree, the powers that be backstage did not want Bryan in the main event. Reality and kayfabe merged. So when Bryan beat Triple H and then conquered Batista and Orton later in the night, it was both a storyline and a real victory for the fans.

This time around, it would feel too much like giving candy to a bratty child throwing a temper tantrum just to keep them quiet. I'm not saying the outraged fans are wrong or that their anger is not justified, but it's a bit different this time. Roman Reigns may not be the most polished or accomplished wrestler, but he's still a full-time worker who busts his ass every day of the week. He's not Batista. He didn't come back from years off and get thrown into the main event. But because the authority picked him, fans hate him.

From both a storyline and real-life standpoint, Bryan absolutely deserves to be in the main event. He never lost the title and never got his rematch after he was stripped of it. And his work ethic and in-ring skill are legendary.

Fans will likely only be happy if Bryan gets a shot and gets the title back, but only time will tell which way WWE decides to go.
